Can you give more details about the "Four Key Elements Needed to Bowl Well"?

Pro Tips From Professional Bowler Chris Warren

The four key elements needed to bowl well are direction, momentum, leverage and balance.

FINDING DIRECTION
* Determine Your Swing Path
a) Swing path is the position of your arm and ball as it moves from your backswing to the downswing. This is a key element in finding your direction.
b) Draw an imaginary line from the center of your forearm down through your target to the pin or pins you intend to knock down.
c) Aligning your forearm to your target is a key element that helps you make corrections in order to allow you a swing path that is loose and free.
d) Finding your direction will allow you to learn to bowl more spares and strikes

MOMENTUM
* Controlling Your Ball Speed
a) The speed of the ball should match the speed of your feet
b) Timing is often described when the ball arrives with your body at the foul line at approximately the same time.
c) The speed of your ball is controlled by your foot speed, not the speed of your arm swing

LEVERAGE and BALANCE
* Leverage is when your legs and arms work together in a smooth motion that helps to create the proper balance throughout your approach and at the point of release.

SUMMARY
1. We now have a starting point in knowledge regarding what we need to understand to demonstrate some basic bowling techniques. We know the pins match the arrows which match the dots on the approach.

2. The ball is 8 1/2 inches from side-to-side.
3. The pin is 4 1/2 inches round so you have 13 inches at approximately 63 ft. to convert your spare (8 1/2 + 4 1/2 = 13, thus 63 ft of lane).
4. Using basic math, we should be able to calculate the angles needed to get the ball on line to our target so we can actually lern to bowl.
5. Move your feet with a steady rhythmic motion. Remember, start your approach slowly and build your speed as you approach the finishing position at the foul line.
6. Your feet get your body in position so you can properly execute the skills needed in that particular situation. Developing a good cadence with your feet in bowling provides balance and leveralge - thus allowing you to perform the skills in your game at a slightly faster than normal pace.
